This Kenyan really caught our attention when we first tasted it.  Everyone around the table agreed it was a superior example of great Eastern African coffee.  Kenya benefits from its location right along the equator and it's rich mountainous soils, and this coffee maximizes that potential. It has become a favorite of the Alpha Coffee staff and many customers.  

It starts with outstanding beans of the SL-28 hybrid variety. Scott Laboratories (SL) was hired by the Kenyan government in the 1930s to develop stronger, drought-resistant coffee bean varieties that would be high yield. With SL-28, they failed in their mission to create a high-yield tree, but succeeded in creating delicious beans, with citrusy, sweet, balanced and complex flavor notes of black tea and lemon.  This coffee is a lightly roasted, light bodied, but full flavored example of just how good the SL-28 variety can be.
 

For a truly excellent pour over or drip, this is a great choice. But this coffee is also amazing in french press or aeropress.

For a light, delicious cup of coffee that takes you on an intriguing trip to Africa, this is the one.
